Vargas earns second MVP

Senior point guard Jordan Vargas led Hesperia Christian to an undefeated Agape League campaign and was named the league’s MVP when the all-league team was released on Friday.

Vargas, who was also the league’s MVP in his sophomore year, averaged 19 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals per game during the league season.

Seniors Seth Thomas and Jacob Arreola also made the team for the Patriots, and HCS coach Scott Dobyns was named coach of the year for the fourth time in six seasons. Junior teammates Chris Maerzluft and Josh Ford earned honorable mention.

AAE had Randy Gruver and Ben Stewart on the team. James Vieira and Jonathan Frazier represented Excelsior. Seth Gordon and Trevor Sikorski were selected from Victor Valley Christian, and Apple Valley Christian’s Tyler Mason was also chosen.
