2008 DAILY PRESS ALL-AREA FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE TEAM

All-Purpose Player
Jay Waddell, Hesperia, Jr.

A receiver, defensive back, punt/kick returner and occasional punter, Waddell scored 18 total touchdowns for the MRL-champion Scorpions. He caught 38 passes for 949 yards and 11 TDs.

Quarterback
Ian Harriman, Hesperia, Sr.

Harriman threw 20 touchdowns passes and five interceptions, completing 52 percent of his passes and racking up 1,624 yards through the air.

Running Backs
Gavin Santos, Hesperia, Sr.

Santos was the workhorse for the Scorpions, carrying the ball 252 times for 1,776 yards. He had 25 rushing touchdowns and 26 total TDs.

Dionza Bradford, Serrano, Jr.
Though he didn’t even start at the beginning of the season, Bradford finished with a team-leading 1,544 rushing yards on 178 carries and 22 touchdowns.

Jerrelle Green, Barstow, Sr.
Green was the leading rusher and an All-CIF selection for the CIF semifinalist Aztecs, gaining 1,298 yards on 157 carries and scoring 14 touchdowns.

Wide Receivers
Maurice Brown, Silverado, Sr.

Big and fast, Brown was Jemeryn Jenkins’ top target, leading Silverado with 54 receptions for 836 yards and nine touchdowns.

Jamaal Franklin, Serrano, Sr.
Franklin added another dimension to the Serrano offense, finishing the year with 30 catches for 573 yards and eight touchdowns while doubling as a hard-nosed safety.

Darrin Duncan, Victor Valley, Sr.
Duncan fought through a knee injury to lead the Jackrabbits in receiving yards with 538 on 22 catches — 24.46 yards per catch — with seven touchdowns, earning his third straight All-DSL selection.

Tight End
Bryce Quigley, Granite Hills, Jr.

Quigley put up outstanding numbers for the Cougars with 40 catches for 681 yards — more than 17 yards per reception — with five touchdowns.

Special Teams
Abdullah Abron, Apple Valley, Sr.

Abron was a dangerous punt and kick returner for the Sun Devils, scoring 12 total touchdowns and leading the team with 78 total points.

Offensive Line
Juan Comparan, Silverado, Sr.

The Silverado center was a standout on a line that helped quarterback Jemeryn Jenkins put up huge numbers through the air and on the ground.

David Esparza, Hesperia, Sr.
Esparza was a versatile asset on a talented Hesperia line, usually playing left tackle and also seeing time at center and guard.

Jesus Reyes, Barstow, Sr.
Reyes, a guard, was the top offensive lineman for a team that won a co-DSL championship and went all the way to the CIF-SS Eastern Division finals.

Alexander Soto, Hesperia, Sr. 
The right guard was a standout up front for Hesperia, helping the Scorpions roll to an MRL title and an 11-1 overall record.

Kyle Walsh, Serrano, Sr.
The Diamondbacks’ center was a key cog in an offensive attack that racked up big yardage and helped Serrano reach the CIF-SS Eastern Division semifinals.
