SANTA MONICA • The University Prep girls soccer team kept its wild playoff ride going with a win in penalty kicks Thursday afternoon in the CIF-Southern Section Division 7 quarterfinals.
The Jaguars were tied with St. Monica 1-1 at the end of regulation and overtime and pulled out a 5-4 victory in PKs.
“The girls just went out there and played with heart,” University Prep coach Teresa Candelario said. “It was an intense, back-and-forth game, but they never gave up.”

St. Monica missed and Nadia Lauren converted to give University Prep the win and a ticket to the semifinals.
Borden made 18 saves in the game.
