Players, coaches set for H.D. All-Star Game

The High Desert’s top high school seniors will take the Newton T. Bass Stadium field this Saturday at 7 p.m. for the second edition of the High Desert All-Star Football game.

Like last year, a scouting combine for local juniors, sophomores and freshmen will be held prior to the game.

The schools will once again be split into two regions, with Bear Valley Road serving as the dividing line. This essentially pits the Desert Sky League (North) against the Mojave River League (South) with the smaller schools split evenly amongst the two.

This season’s head coaches are Silver Valley’s Andy Campbell for the North and Hesperia’s Robert Kistner for the South.

This year, players from a few new teams have been added, including Boron and Desert High on the North side and Big Bear for the South.

Last year, roughly 4,500 fans watched the North defeat the South 26-23.
