Aztecs, Scorps lead All-CIF teams
Twenty High Desert players have been chosen for the All-CIF-Southern Section football teams, which were released Tuesday.
On the All-CIF-SS Eastern Division team, Barstow and Hesperia led the way with five selections each. Senior running back Jerrelle Green, senior offensive lineman Jesus Reyes, senior running back DaMario Webb, junior defensive back Curtis Webb and senior defensive end Tulilo Tofi made the team for Barstow, which lost to Citrus Hill in the division championship game.
Senior tailback Gavin Santos, senior offensive lineman Alexander Soto, junior wide receiver Jay Waddell, defensive lineman Galvin Emesibe and linebacker Danny Reyes were selected from Hesperia, which went 11-1 and reached the quarterfinals.
CIF semifinalist Serrano got four selections: junior RB Dionza Bradford, senior offensive lineman Kyle Walsh, senior safety Jamaal Franklin and senior defensive lineman Kevin Pope.
Silverado, also a semifinalist, had three All-CIF players: junior defensive lineman James Lynn, junior receiver Maurice Brown and junior quarterback Jemeryn Jenkins.
Senior linebacker Dominick Sween of Burroughs also made the team.
Division champ Citrus Hill took all of the top honors: Quarterback Caleb Herring and running back Deontae Cooper were co-offensive players of the year; linebacker David Adame was defensive player of the year; and Doug Dubois was selected as coach of the year.
In the CIF-SS Northeast Division, Silver Valley was honored with two selections: senior defensive back Mike Medeguari and senior defensive lineman Joseph Pitre.
