Track and Field Roundup: 5-5-09

SEVERAL PATRIOTS QUALIFY FOR CIF: At Anza, Hesperia Christian’s John Mendonca and Jordan Dorsey qualified for the CIF-Southern Section Preliminaries in multiple events at the Big Sky League CIF qualifier held at Hamilton High School.

Mendonca took second in the 400 meters in 53.14 seconds, and Dorsey was third in the 300 hurdles (43.24). Both also ran on the first-place 4x100 relay team (45.35) with Rashad Gill and Jordan Vargas.

Other Hesperia Christian qualifiers included Breanna McCloud with first-place finishes in the 400 (1:01.55) and 800 (2:39), and Justin Harguess, who took third in the high jump (5 feet, 8 inches) on April 28.

The CIF Preliminaries are May 16 in Carpinteria.
