BARSTOW 5, MONROVIA 0: At Monrovia, Chris Madero scored the game-winning run in the first inning as Barstow beat Monrovia in the first round of the CIF-SS Div. IV playoffs.

With the win and Fullerton’s 13-2 win against Baldwin Park, the Aztecs earned a home playoff game on Tuesday.

Jaccob Muir pitched a complete game with six strikeouts.

NORTHVIEW 5, GRANITE HILLS 0: At Covina, the Cougars’ season came to an end with a loss to No. 2-seeded Northview, the defending division champion, in the first round of the CIF-SS Div. IV playoffs.

David Wetzel went 2-for-2, and Andrew Disbrow had Granite Hills’ only other hit.

The Cougars (16-9) beat Indio on Tuesday in a wild-card game to reach the first round.

BORON 18, VICTOR VALLEY CHRISTIAN 9:
At Victorville, senior Aaron Hewus was 4-for-5 with an inside-the-park home run and a double, but the Royals (15-6) gave up nine runs in the seventh inning in a CIF-SS Div. VI playoff loss.

Senior Scott Bowerman doubled and was 2-for-4 with a walk for VVCS.

The No. 1 team from Agape League is losing Hewus and Bowerman to graduation, and their replacements will have some big shoes to fill.

“That was good senior leadership that we’re losing,” VVCS coach Paul Hobbs said. “Our offense is strong and we’re bringing up some freshmen that will be strong defensively. ... But we are losing our power.”

Tyler Duarte went 3-for-3 for Hesperia Christian (11-11), while Brodie Capps and Kevin Gilson each drove in a run with an extra-base hit.
