Sultana's Vindiola gets MRL MVP
Sultana senior shortstop Robert Vindiola played a major role in helping the Sultans defend their Mojave River League baseball title, and in doing so earned the league’s MVP award.
Vindiola batted .527 with four home runs, 29 RBIs and 33 runs scored.
Three other Sultana seniors made the all-MRL first team: pitcher Kyle Sprague, outfielder Kenny McMurray and catcher Sam Ward.
Hesperia had the most first team representatives with four of its juniors: pitcher Nathan Mansfield, infielder Kyle Bussey, outfielder Steven Beltran and utility player Juan Manibusan.
Three first-teamers came from Rim of the World in seniors Jake Pilkerton, Kenny Acosta and Zach Naour.
Serrano sophomore pitcher Kenny Grady and junior infielder Daniel Montanez as well as Apple Valley senior infielder Kyle Covarrubio rounded out the first team.
Making the second team were: outfielder Kyle Self, and infielders Warren Morelion and Zack Pacilio from Apple Valley; pitcher Cameron Heckman and catcher Brandon Delaunay from Hesperia; infielder Christian Fillingame, outfielder Skyler Bellanger and utility player Damien Grau for Serrano; and infielder Patrick Aiken from Sultana.
