HESPERIA CHRISTIAN 10, REDLANDS ADVENTIST ACADEMY 6: At Hesperia, the Patriots advanced to the first round of the CIF-SS Division VI playoffs with a win in the wild-card round.

Hesperia Christian (11-10) trailed 4-3 before erupting for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth. Brodie Capps, who went 2-for-4 with a home run, had a two-run single in the rally. Tyler Duarte went 3-for-4 with two RBIs at the plate and struck out 14 on the mound to pick up the win. He allowed just three hits and three earned runs, but also walked eight and hit two batters.

The Patriots play at Vasquez on Thursday at 3:15 p.m.

Christian Fillingame and Skyler Bellanger were each 2-for-3 with a double for Serrano (9-13). Fillingame had three RBIs, while Bellanger drove in two.
