Harriman to play for Redlands

Recent Hesperia graduate Ian Harriman has received a scholarship from the University of Redlands and plans to play football for the school.

The quarterback’s father, Bob Harriman, said the scholarship will pay for everything not covered by a Cal Grant.

Harriman helped lead the Scorpions to the quarterfinals of the CIF-Eastern Division playoffs last season. They went 11-1 and won the Mojave River League title for the first time in school history. Harriman threw for 20 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 52 percent of his passes for 1,624 yards.

The Division III Bulldogs went 7-2 in 2008, including a 4-2 mark in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to finish in third place.
