Sultans' season ends
SAN JACINTO • The Sultana baseball team’s historic run came to an end with a 3-1 loss to San Jacinto in the quarterfinals of the CIF-Southern Section Division V playoffs on Friday afternoon.
The Sultans (16-9) reached the quarterfinals for the first time in school history with a 10-5 win over Sierra Vista on Tuesday.
“It was a gratifying season,” Sultana coach Dave Hill said. “It’s just a tough way to end it.”
Kyle Sprague threw a complete game on Friday, allowing six hits and no earned runs. Two Sultana errors led to three unearned runs and made the difference in the game.
