Emesibe commits to UC Davis
Hesperia senior defensive tackle Galvin Emesibe has verbally committed to play football for UC Davis on a full-ride scholarship.
Emesibe, who had 12.3 sacks and 64 tackles for the Scorpions this past season, plans to sign his letter of intent on Feb. 4, which is National Signing Day.
A straight-A student who skipped the eighth grade, Emesibe is only 16 and plans to redshirt his first year. At 6-foot-2, 230 pounds, Emesibe said he will likely be moved to defensive end by the UC Davis coaches.
“It’s a really nice campus; it’s a college town and you can ride your bike everywhere,” Emesibe said. “I like the program. The players are all nice and it’s a really good environment.”
Galvin’s twin brother, Melvin Emesibe, is also a defensive lineman at Hesperia but has another year of high school left because he never skipped a grade. His cousin, cornerback Femi Oladapo, will also be at Hesperia for another year.
