CIF baseball, softball draws released

The Hesperia Christian softball team received the No. 1 overall seed in the CIF-Southern Section Division VII playoffs when the draws were released Monday, while Victor Valley Christian took the No. 3 seed.

The Patriots host West Shores in the first round on Thursday, while the Royals take on San Jacinto Valley Academy at home.

All baseball and softball games are scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. unless another time is agreed on by both teams. All first-round games will be played either Thursday or Friday, and all wild-card games take place today.

BASEBALL: Desert Sky League champion Victor Valley hosts the winner of Sonora and Temple City in the first round of the Division IV playoffs Thursday. Barstow plays at Monrovia in the first round, and Granite Hills faces Indio for a wild-card game at home.

Mojave River League champion Sultana hosts Riverside Christian for a Division V first-round game Friday, while Hesperia goes down to Tahquitz. Serrano got a wild card and hosts Beaumont today.

Victor Valley Christian, which won the Agape League, plays Boron at home on Thursday in Division VI. AAE travels to Crossroads for a 3 p.m. game at Clover Park. Hesperia Christian and Excelsior are both in the wild card bracket as the Patriots host Redlands at 4 p.m., and the Eagles play at Lone Pine at 3:15 p.m.

SOFTBALL: Hesperia faces Hawthorne on the road, and Sultana plays at Aquinas in the first round of the Division IV playoffs starting Thursday. Rim of the World, the Mojave River League champion, hosts Lakeside.

In Division V, Desert Sky League champion Victor Valley hosts Azusa on Thursday. Granite Hills, which took second in the league, hosts Alhambra for a wild-card game, while Barstow travels to Beaumont.

The Academy for Academic Excellence made the Division VII playoffs and travels to Rosamond.
