Patriots rally to reach semis

BISHOP • The Hesperia Christian softball team scored four runs in the sixth inning to beat Bishop 4-1 and advance to the semifinals of the CIF-Southern Section Division VII playoffs.

Sierra Rick started the rally with a leadoff double. After stealing third, she scored on a single by Helena Harrity. Lauren Miller walked with one out, and both runners advanced on a wild pitch then scored on a two-run double by Laura Acosta. Jackie Becerra, running for Acosta, went to third on wild pitch and scored on a bunt by Anjelica Rosales.

That was more than enough support for Rick, who struck out six and allowed three hits and one unearned run in a complete game.

The Patriots (23-1) will play the winner of today’s game between Kern Valley and Connelly on Tuesday. Hesperia Christian could play Victor Valley Christian in the finals.
