HESPERIA CHRISTIAN 60, LAGUNA BLANCA/SANTA BARBARA 46: At Santa Barbara, Jacob Arreola scored a game-high 23 points to go with five rebounds and three assists as the Patriots (22-5) won in the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Division VI-AA playoffs.
HCS coach Scott Dobyns said the Patriots haven’t been to the CIF semifinals in 17 years, but he hasn’t been too surprised by this year’s performance.
“Going into these playoffs as the No. 4 seed and being in a division that is more aligned to our enrollment and school size, we thought that this was a team that could make a deep run,” Dobyns said.
HCS plays Friday against the winner of the Desert Christian/Bermuda Dunes-Rio Hondo Prep game.
Jordan Vargas added 16 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Patriots, while teammate Seth Thomas had a double-double with 10 points and 18 rebounds.
