SUN DEVILS SWEEP SCOTS: At Apple Valley, the Apple Valley boys and girls routed Rim of the World as the Sun Devils’ boys (5-0, 2-0 Mojave River League) remained undefeated on the season.
Abdullah Abron dominated the sprint events in his second meet as he won the 4x100, 100, 200, and 4x400. Nick Reynolds took both hurdles races.
For Apple Valley girls (3-2, 1-1 MRL), Samantha Teofilo swept the throwing events. Aleshia Kelly won the 4x100, 200, 400 and 4x400, while Tiffany Verduzco took first in the 1,600 and 3,200. Mandy Wilson won the long jump with her personal best record and finished second in the high jump.
Apple Valley competes Saturday at the Inland Empire Championships.

DIAMONDBACKS BLOW AWAY SCORPIONS: At Hesperia, Serrano’s boys and girls swept Hesperia on a day that was too windy to contest the pole vault.
Serrano’s girls (3-0 MRL) won every event, led by Natasha Coe and Jessica Feuerstine. Coe won the 1,600 and 3,200 meters, and Feuerstine took both hurdles events and ran on the winning 4x400 relay team.
On the boys side, the Diamondbacks’ (2-1 MRL) Robert Brockert won the 400 and 800 and ran on the winning 4x400 team, while Hesperia’s K’dayle Robinson took first in the long jump and triple jump.
