Man sentenced to 30 years in family molestations
Seven young female relatives assaulted in ‘07
BARSTOW• A Barstow man who pleaded guilty to three counts of forcible lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 was sentenced to 30 years in prison Monday, according to court records.
Scott Johnson, 41, was arraigned in April on charges of molesting seven of his female relatives in 2007. The victims ranged in age from 5 to 10 years old, according to previous reports.
His wife, Mioshi, 37, was sentenced to five years and four months in prison Monday, court records show. She pleaded guilty to two counts of willful cruelty to a child in December when she and Johnson entered into a plea bargain.
Police suspect Mioshi knew of the crimes and did nothing to stop them, Barstow Police Detective Keith Libby said in April.
The crimes went unreported until one victim told her parents. As police investigated, more family members came forward.
Johnson will undergo HIV testing. A hearing regarding HIV results is scheduled for April 29, court records show.
“Anytime that there’s any possibility of any risk of exposure, we do an HIV search warrant to protect our victims,” said Shannon Faherty, the deputy district attorney on the case. “Results are kept confidential and go through our court.”
Johnson and Mioshi were both credited with time served and good behavior.
Johnson was credited with one year and four days. Mioshi was credited with one year and 319 days.
