Drunken Adelanto woman flips vehicle, injuring pregnant passenger

VICTORVILLE • An Adelanto woman is scheduled to be in court Tuesday after she allegedly flipped her vehicle on Highway 395 injuring her pregnant passenger over the weekend, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Victorville station officials said Monday.

The 29-year-old pregnant woman is currently in stable condition, Karen Hunt, spokeswoman for the Victorville station, said.

Kelly Leigh Teves, 29, was arrested for driving under the influence and causing great bodily harm after she flipped her Honda as she allegedly tried to pass a southbound vehicle on Highway 395 near La Mesa Road on Saturday morning, according to a release. There were also two children, ages 7 and 10, in the vehicle when Teves crashed.

Deputies received several 911 calls at about 9:30 a.m. alerting them to the crash. When rescuers arrived they found the pregnant woman had been partially ejected from the vehicle, a sheriff’s release states. She was taken to a local emergency room. The children received minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital as a precaution, as was a front seat passenger.

Teves was also taken to the hospital, but later arrested after driving under the influence.

Highway 395 was shut down for several hours following the roll over, officials said.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Victorville station at (760) 241-2911 or call WeTip at (800) 78-CRIME.
