Couple's quarrel leads to stolen property, arrest
VICTORVILLE • A Hesperia man is scheduled to be in court Feb. 1 after a fight with his girlfriend led deputies to stolen goods in a storage facility and in the man's home, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Victorville station officials said Friday.
Authorities on Sunday arrested Adam Bachelier, 30, of Hesperia for receiving stolen property, being a felon in possession of a firearm and felony evading following a high-speed pursuit through the streets of Hesperia, Karen Hunt, spokeswoman for the Victorville station, said.
On Jan. 21, Victorville deputies were called out to a storage facility in the 12100 block of Locust Avenue for a fight between a couple, officials said. One witness stated the woman jumped into a vehicle and sped off with the man clinging to the vehicle.
When deputies arrived, the couple was gone, but they had left the storage unit open and officials could see several weapons in plain view, according to a release.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the unit and located weapons and items that had been stolen during several burglaries committed throughout the Victor Valley, Hunt said.
The following day on Sixth Avenue in Hesperia, Victorville deputies spotted a vehicle that was linked to the storage unit and attempted to perform a traffic stop. Bachelier refused to stop and led deputies on a high-speed chase through several busy streets, running stop signs and driving into oncoming traffic, according to Hunt.
Bachelier — a parolee at large — finally stopped and ran off, but was quickly found and arrested, officials stated.
Detectives served a search warrant at a home in the 14700 block of Sequoia Street and located more stolen items. They are working to identify the items found in both locations and to return them to the rightful owners.
Court records show Bachelier has been previously arrested for burglary, vandalism, inflicting corporal injury on a spouse and some drug and vehicle code violations.
