Pedestrian airlifted after being hit by vehicle

HESPERIA • A pedestrian was airlifted after being hit by a vehicle while walking on Ranchero Road, officials said Wednesday.

At approximately 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, a vehicle traveling east on Ranchero Road collided with a man who was walking in the road, according to Hesperia Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Sue Rose.

The pedestrian sustained minor injuries and was airlifted to Arrowhead Medical Center. His current status is unknown, Rose said.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the collision, and deputies determined that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision.

The collision was most likely a result of the pedestrian being on the road, but incident is still under investigation by deputies, Rose said.
