St. Joseph Health purchases High Desert Primary Care
APPLE VALLEY • St. Joseph Health, parent company of the St. Mary's hospital, recently purchased High Desert Primary Care Medical Group.
The deal gives St. Joseph Health an exclusive relationship to all the HDPC patients, St. Mary’s spokesman Randy Bevilacqua said. Under the agreement, St. Joseph Health will form a new medical group called St. Mary High Desert Medical Group.
St. Mary’s already had a contract with HDPC prior to the buyout, accepting patients from the group, according to Bevilacqua.
“They are going to become a part of a very large network,” Bevilacqua said.
He declined to disclose the purchasing price. He said all the staff at HDPC will be retained by the new group.
HDPC is a 32 physician and provider practice consisting of physicians, mid-level practitioners and affiliated specialists, serving more than 20,000 patients in the High Desert, according to a press release from St. Joseph Health.
“As health care in the United States is on the verge of substantial changes, we at HDPC believe the collaborative relationship between physicians and other heath care providers is more important than ever before,” Dr. Ziad El-Hajjaoui, Medical Director of HDPC, stated in the release. “As we have served our High Desert patients, St. Joseph Health and St. Mary have proven to be great partners, and under this new medical group we are confident the quality and services to the community we care so much for will grow and thrive.”
