Abandoned Kiowa condos may be resurrected

APPLE VALLEY • The luxury condos that have sat half-finished on Highway 18 and Kiowa Road for more than two years could be on the market by the end of 2010.

A Rancho Cucamonga non-profit and Los Angeles developer are looking to team up and complete the 34-unit project formerly known as Happy Trails Villas.

The plan is to create “luxury rental units at affordable prices” — more than likely at market rent, according to Frank Williams, executive officer with the Baldy View Chapter of the Building Industry Association and founder of Housing Action Resource Trust, or HART.

On the agenda for Tuesday’s Town Council meeting is an Owner Participation Agreement with HART, asking the town to contribute federal housing funds its been allocated.

The project is up for discussion starting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Town Hall at 14955 Dale Evans Parkway. Residents can view a full agenda and watch the meeting live online at www.AppleValley.org.
