Two airlifted after SUV strikes semi-truck
VICTORVILLE • Two people were extricated from a sport utility vehicle and airlifted after their vehicle struck a semi-truck on Highway 395, officials said Thursday.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, an semi-truck with a 53-foot trailer was headed northbound on Highway 395. As the truck went through the intersection with Mojave Drive, a GMC Suburban struck the trailer from behind, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s spokesperson Staci Johnson.
The truck continued through the intersection, dragging the Suburban 530 feet before stopping, Johnson said.
At 5:35 p.m., Sheriff’s and San Bernardino County Fire department personnel responded to the scene and found two people with multiple injuries trapped inside the Suburban.
The injured people were cut out of the Suburban and airlifted to a hospital, Johnson said. The driver of the truck was not injured.
Highway 395 was closed for two hours following the accident, which is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.
