Boy reports man attempted to lure him into truck

Truck reportedly had '96666' written on side

Staff Writer

A Hesperia boy has told deputies that a man attempted to lure him into his truck after school on Monday.

The 11-year-old boy told deputies that after being dropped off at his bus stop after school on Monday, he was approached near the intersection of Willow Street and Timberlane Avenue by a man in a black pick-up truck. The man, whom he described as a black man wearing a mask, reportedly rolled down his window and offered to give the boy a ride home. The boy said he refused and that the man did not get out of the truck or touch him at any time.

The truck reportedly had the numbers "96666" visible on the passenger side of the vehicle.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department does not believe this incident is related to another incident reported on Monday, when a Sultana High School student said a man attempted to drag her into a truck when she was walking to school.

Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to call the Hesperia sheriff's station at 760-947-1500 or call the anonymous WE-TIP line at 800-78-CRIME.
