Gonzales officially takes top VESD post
VICTORVILLE • Victor Elementary School District has appointed interim superintendent Jan Gonzales to the permanent post.
Gonzales, who has served as interim superintendent since Dale Marsden resigned in July, has been with the district for 18 years, according to a press release from VESD. Since that time, the district has undergone a nationwide search and has decided that Gonzales is “the best candidate for the position,” said Gary Elder, the board president.
“Over the past few years, Mrs. Gonzales and her team have kept the district out of financial trouble, and she and her team have developed a plan to ensure that the students of the Victor Elementary School District continue to receive the best education possible,” Elder stated in the press release. “We feel that she is someone who will be a part of this community for a long time to come.”
Gonzales served as the district’s assistant superintendent of administrative services and performed both jobs until the district made her post a permanent position. Gonzales has earned the title of District and County Teacher of the Year, and while she was principal of Galileo Academy, the school earned the California Distinguished School award.
