Man gets prison time for carjacking

VICTORVILLE • A Silver Lakes man accused of carjacking and kidnapping a Victorville woman was sentenced to five years and eight months in prison.

Javon Rafael Vance, 27, accepted the prosecution’s offer and pleaded no contest Friday to felony carjacking and false imprisonment. Victorville Judge Lynn Poncin sentenced him immediately after accepting the plea.

The victim told deputies she was driving near Center Street Park in Victorville in the morning of June 24. A stranger jumped into the passenger seat of her car while she was at a stop sign and struck her in the head with a large handgun, knocking her unconscious.

She woke up in a strange home in Silver Lakes with her hands and feet duct-taped and completely undressed, according to the victim. She managed to get free and run to a neighbor’s home to call for help.
