Local cities see rise in sales tax revenue
It appears most of the Victor Valley cities have seen in increase in sales tax revenue during the first quarter of 2011 with the city of Hesperia seeing the largest increase.
“We received $5.6 million in sales tax revenue, which is a 25.1 percent increase in 2011 compared to the same period in 2010,” Kelly Malloy, spokeswoman for the city of Hesperia said. “This can mostly be attributed to the rise in fuel costs and multiple retail outlets opening in the city.”
Actual sales activities for Hesperia increased by a little more than 23 percent, according to a report.
The town of Apple Valley has also seen a jump from last year to this with a 9.4 percent increase on a year-overyear basis, according to a town report. Victorville has seen a steady increase from 2010. Victorville was a 3.67 percent jump.
The sales tax numbers for Adelanto were not immediately available.
San Bernardino County as a whole saw an increase in sales tax revenue of a little more than 10 percent. That is more than the Southern California average of 8.7 percent, county numbers indicate.
