Carjacking suspects nabbed in pizza heist
Caught after 100 mph chase on Bear Valley Road
VICTORVILLE • A Victorville resident and a juvenile transient were arrested for carjacking the vehicle of a victim who was delivering pizza to the suspects, officials said Monday.
At 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call about a carjacking near Yearling Lane in Victorville, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff's press release.
The victim stated that his white Chrysler 300 was taken by two suspects, one armed with a handgun, who headed east in the vehicle, according to the release.
Deputies located the stolen vehicle on Mojave Drive near Village Drive. The suspects entered the Interstate 15 southbound from Mojave Drive and exited on Bear Valley Road.
Deputies chased the suspects westbound on Bear Valley Road at speeds higher than 100 mph. The suspects made several unsafe maneuvers during the chase, according to the release.
The chase continued onto dirt roads in unincorporated Victorville and the suspects eventually crashed the stolen vehicle into a dirt embankment. The suspects fled north into the desert.
With help from a Sheriff's helicopter, Lewis Williams, 20, and a black male juvenile were arrested a short time later, and the weapon was found nearby, according to the release.
Evidence on scene linked the suspects to the stolen vehicle, and the victim positively identified the suspects as the ones who had stolen his car at gunpoint, according to the release.
