Search warrants net meth, gun over weekend
Two arrested, including ex-felon
BARSTOW• Search warrants served at two separate Barstow residences after ongoing investigations resulted in arrests for drugs and possession of a firearm over the weekend.
The Barstow Police Department Street Enforcement Team (SET) seized methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a 12-gauge shotgun and several unused shotgun shells during searches Friday and Saturday, according to a police news release.
On Friday, a search at a residence in the 1200 block of Sunshine Drive led to the arrest of Steven Brock, 33, who was reported to have been selling illegal drugs from the home, police said, though sufficient evidence wasn’t discovered to corroborate that information.
Meth, a shotgun and shotgun shells were located at the residence. Brock has a prior felony conviction for possession of illegal drugs in Florida, according to police.
On Saturday, the street enforcement team searched a residence in the 700 block of West Buena Vista Street and arrested Rhonda Black, 46, who was also alleged to have been selling illegal drugs out of the home, according to police.
Meth and several items, including drug paraphernalia, were located at the residence, police said.
Brock was arrested for drug possession and for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Black was arrested for possession of controlled substances for sale.
Both were booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Jail in Barstow and have since been released on bail, according to booking records, which did not indicate a scheduled court appearance for either on Monday.
Street enforcement team officers “investigate any complaints involving illegal drugs and gang activity,” Barstow Police Lt. Mike Hunter said, “and act on citizen complaints” of such activity in local neighborhoods.
