Pregnant, drunken woman killed in roll over

APPLE VALLEY • A pregnant woman allegedly driving drunk was killed Thursday night when her vehicle overturned, ejecting her, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Apple Valley station officials said Friday.

Danielle Gerhold, 31, of Apple Valley, who was 6-months pregnant, was pronounced dead at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday night, Sheriff-Coroner’s officials said.

According to friends, Gerhold had been drinking heavily before the crash, Sgt. Marie Spain stated. They also said they tried to keep her from driving but she refused.

Gerhold was traveling east on Red Feather Road near Havasu Road when she lost control of her 2011 Nissan Versa, Spain said, The vehicle rolled over several times ejecting Gerhold, who was not wearing a seat belt.

The roadway was shut down for some time as Deputy Bryan Zierdt and members of the Major Accident Investigation Team gathered evidence.

Authorities said this incident illustrates the importance of wearing seat belts and not driving while intoxicated.
