Man dead after apparent suicide off Lenwood Road

Deceased suffered gunshot wound to head

Staff Writer

BARSTOW • An unidentified man was found dead Wednesday afternoon after an apparent suicide on Lenwood Road, just south of Old Highway 58.

The man had suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy J. Angle said.

At 12:05 p.m., California Highway Patrol received a call of a male subject lying in a pool of blood next to a white pick-up truck at the location. CHP was first to respond to the scene, CHP spokesman Adam Croxton said.

The CHP then notified the Sheriff’s Department at 12:10 p.m., Angle confirmed.

Angle and another deputy waited for the San Bernardino County’s Coroner Department to arrive.

The name of the deceased will not be released until positive identification is made and the next of kin are notified, authorities said.

The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.
