Pit Bull puppies missing after break-in
BARSTOW • Six pit bull puppies are missing from a Barstow woman’s home after a break-in on Saturday.
Wynema Marshall said that she fears the puppies were stolen from her Jade Road home and sold to a dog fighting ring. Pit bull puppies can command prices of over $1,000, according to deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s department.
After returning from a day-long trip to Los Angeles, Marshall said that she found the puppies as well as a number of Xbox game consoles missing. Marshall’s husband, Michael Gonzagowski, fixes a common glitch on the Xboxes for local children and adorns them with custom paint jobs.
“(The burglar) jimmied the window and we found two (Xbox) games that he dropped in the yard,” said Marshall. “We can’t sleep. My husband dozes while I’m awake and I doze while he’s awake.”
Marshall said she thinks that someone who came to her home to view the dogs when they were for sale came back later to steal them. She said things have been tense around the house recently and that she hopes to move soon from a neighborhood that she sees as crime-ridden.
The blue nose Gotti pit bull puppies were six weeks old and homes had already been found for most of the dogs. Three were mostly white with gray markings and the other three were mostly gray with white markings.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the dogs may call the Barstow Sheriff’s Department at 760-256-4838. Callers who wish to remain anonymous may contact the WE-TIP hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME or visit www.wetip.com.
