DUI checkpoints planned Friday, Saturday

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials will be setting up three sobriety checkpoints in Victorville, Hesperia and Apple Valley this weekend.

Victorville officials will hold their checkpoint Friday from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. and both Hesperia and Apple Valley’s will be on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

As part of the Avoid the 25 campaign, stations throughout the county will be holding similar checkpoints as well as patrol saturation operations until the Labor Day holiday to help get intoxicated and unlicensed drivers off the roadways, officials said in a press release.

Authorities suggest anyone who plans of going out and drinking this weekend to have a sober designated driver.
