PINON HILLS • A Corona resident was arrested in Phelan after escaping from custody while in handcuffs in Pinon Hills.
Colin Sawyer, 20, was contacted by deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Victor Valley station on Nov. 14 at a home in the 9800 block of Ash Road in Pinon Hills, according to a county press release.
While at the residence, sheriff’s officials said a male subject gave the deputies a false name and attempted to conceal over seven grams of heroin.
Deputies found a scale, packaging supplies and a large amount of money in the suspect’s wallet, according to the release. They then positively identified the suspect as Sawyer.
Deputies placed Sawyer under arrest and handcuffed him, but Sawyer escaped and fled from the deputies on foot.
On Thursday, Sawyer was found at a home in the 11500 block of Middleton in Phelan along with additional money and damaged handcuffs.
Sawyer is being held at the Victor Valley Jail without bail.
