Look for smaller paychecks beginning this week

Workers will see a smaller paycheck beginning this week resulting from an increase to the Personal Income Tax Withholding by 10 percent that takes affect Sunday.


The Legislature voted in July to add the extra 10 percent onto the withholding in an effort to raise $1.7 billion in additional revenue for the state.


In a prepared statement Sen. George Runner, R-Lancaster, said he opposes the bill, “on the grounds that it was an irresponsible approach to balancing a woefully out of whack budget. The last two governors have relied on gimmicks and accounting tricks to balance the state budget.”
