Beer flows once more at Oggi's
AV pub gets green light while new liquor license is finalized
APPLE VALLEY • Customers were pleased to report that drinks are flowing once again at Oggi's Pizza and Brewing Co., with the Apple Valley sports bar cleared to serve alcohol while it finalizes an updated liquor license.
“We are operating business as usual while our new license is being processed,” Rianne Richey, who owns the Bear Valley Road business with her husband, Randy, confirmed by phone Saturday.
The business never lost its license from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. However, the Richeys found out Nov. 17 that the liquor license they renewed in September is no longer valid, forcing them to stop serving alcohol as of Nov. 19.
The restaurant, which is one of 15 franchised locations in the Southern California chain, sold its on-site brewery to expand the bar and seating. Since the liquor license they had was for an on-site brew pub, Richey said they looked into switching it and thought they had until the licensing lottery next September.
As of Thursday evening, Oggi’s was given the green light to fill its beer growlers while the final approvals are being processed — good news for the pub’s 60 employees and its loyal customers, who continued frequenting the Bear Valley Road spot even through those 10 dry days.
