Felon gang member arrested for attempted murder

HESPERIA • A known gang member and convicted felon wanted for an attempted murder out of Apple Valley was arrested in Hesperia on Sunday, San Bernardino County Sheriff's officials said Monday.

Lavell Steven Lacy, 29, of Hesperia was arrested as a result of a warrant service Sunday morning, Sgt. Coleen Kuhn of the Hesperia station said.

Lacy was booked for an attempted murder that took place on Dec. 7 in Apple Valley, officials confirmed, though they would not release any further information on the case.

A self-proclaimed Rollin 20s Blood, Lacy was also booked for participation in a criminal street gang as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is scheduled to be in Victorville Superior court Tuesday to answer to those charges, sheriff’s booking information indicates.

A search of court documents shows that Lacy has been arrested numerous times in the past including an arrest in 2010 in Hesperia where he was caught with a sawed-off shotgun only a few months after being released from prison. Lacy has been convicted of grand theft, negligent discharge of a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon and various vehicle code violations. He was arrested in 2002 for willful cruelty to a child, but that charge was dismissed. He was again arrested for the same offense in 2005 and that case was again dismissed, records indicate.

This case is still under investigation.
