Bender, Davis take lead in AVUSD race

APPLE VALLEY • Incumbent Dennis Bender and retired teacher Donna Davis had a commanding lead for the two seats on the Apple Valley Unified School District, according to preliminary results late Tuesday night.

Bender, who has been involved with the district for 42 years, received 23.94 percent of the vote, with 10 percent of precincts reporting.

Davis’ 23.68 percent placed her a close second, ahead of Scott Weldy, manager of Apple Valley Ranchos Water Company, who was trailing in third place.

• Donna Davis Retired Educator - 23.68 percent

• Bill Deppe Retired Teacher -16.62 percent

• Mark Hart School maintenance worker - 8.66 percent

• Destinie Hoffman Full-time student - 5.60 percent

• Michael Karen Advertising specialist - 4.10 percent

• Scott Weldy Manager - 16.41 percent
