Reward for Ivanpah Valley burro poaching

IVANPAH • A $1,000 reward is being offered for the arrest and conviction of a wild burro poacher in the Ivanpah Valley near the California-Nevada border.

Wild burros are federally protected.

The Moreno Valley office of the Bureau of Land Management says the burro was killed on public lands and the meat was harvested.

A biologist found the carcass near the Ivanpah solar energy site. Ivanpah is in the Mojave National Preserve in San Bernardino County.

About 80 miles away in Lake Havasu City, a wild burro was struck and killed by a pickup truck on Monday.
