More development coming to Hesperia
HESPERIA • The city will hit the ground running in 2013, as the Development Review Committee looks over a proposal that would bring a nearly 15,000-square-foot building to Main Street.
The committee will meet Jan. 2 to discuss the multi-tenant commercial structure, which will be home to an Aaron’s sales and lease store.
Aaron’s is slated to anchor the proposed building on 1.9 acres on the southwest corner of Main Street and Hickory Avenue.
Garet Hayes, senior vice president for Hope-Beckham Inc, representing the Atlanta-based Aaron’s, said she would release more information on the new store as it becomes available.
Aaron’s, which has more than 1,800 company-operated and franchised stores in 48 states and Canada, is a national leader in the sales and lease ownership and specialty retailing of residential and office furniture, consumer electronics, home appliances and accessories, according to the company’s website. The committee will also review a proposal for the second-phase build-out at Civic Park, which welcomed its new movie theater Dec. 12 on Smoketree Street.
The addition, at Hesperia’s Civic Plaza, includes a 700-square-foot restroom and concession building, and recreation facilities, which includes shuffle board, bocce, and chess and reading tables.
City officials hope the plaza, which includes City Hall, the San Bernardino County Government Center and library, will be ripe for full-service restaurants.
The meeting on Jan. 2 will be held at 10 a.m. at City Hall, in the Joshua Room, 9700 Seventh Ave.
