Body found in Hesperia

HESPERIA • The body of a 40-year-old Victorville man was found along Mariposa Road, just north of Ranchero Road, by a passing motorist at 11:12 p.m. on Sunday according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Hesperia deputies responded to the report of a male subject found lying on the side of the roadway.

Deputies and county fire personnel found the unresponsive man. He was identified as Eduardo Martinez III, 40. Medical personnel pronounced Martinez dead at the scene, according to a sheriff’s press release.

Sheriff’s homicide investigators are conducting an investigation, and an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

The road remained closed nearly 12 hours later as investigators combed the scene for evidence. Several evidence markers were placed near the body which lay just a few feet from the pavement, on the road, and on a newer silver Subaru with no license plates parked across the road from the body.
