Gas prices rise, no relief in sight
Drivers across San Bernardino County took a hit in their wallets as prices rose sharply at the gas pump during the last week of January.
Average retail gas prices in San Bernardino County rose 23.9 cents per gallon in the past week according to a news release from GasBuddy.com on Monday which surveyed 567 gas outlets.
The county average came in at $3.93 per gallon, with last week’s national average increasing 14.4 cents per gallon to $3.48, according to the fuel price website.
Sunday’s recorded prices came in at 19.1 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago, and 35.7 cents per gallon higher than a month ago, the news release said.
Four Barstow fuel outlets offered the lowest prices in the county at $3.59 per gallon, with one Hesperia location taking the ninth lowest spot at $3.73 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.com.
The new release said the national average increased 21.1 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 4.4 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago.
“The national average has ticked higher in the last week, as rising oil prices have put upward pressure on gasoline prices,” GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan said. “Unfortunately for angry motorists, there doesn’t seem to be much relief in sight, at least for the time being, as retail prices continue to climb in virtually all areas of the country.”
