Footprints lead deputies to alleged burglar

ADELANTO • An Adelanto resident was due in court Wednesday, after footprints led deputies to the defendant following a residential burglary in Adelanto.

Frederick Johnson, 19, was arrested Monday for burglary and is being held at the Victor Valley Jail, with bail set at $75,000, according to county records.

San Bernardino County deputies received a 911 call at 11:35 a.m. from a residence in the 10300 block of Butte Street in Adelanto. The caller stated that her house had been burglarized that morning, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department press release.

Deputies Roosevelt Dutra and Brandon Kirkendall found shoe prints in the backyard upon arrival at the home. They followed the prints from the victim’s home to a neighboring residence, where they came in contact with Johnson, according to the release.

While searching the neighboring home, deputies uncovered the victim’s stolen property and the shoes the suspect was wearing at the time of the burglary, leading to Johnson’s arrest for one count of burglary.
