Felon back in jail for stolen car, IDs

VICTORVILLE • A felon was found with a stolen Honda, drug paraphernalia and stolen identification documents during a routine check of his Victorville home, according to a statement Friday from the San Bernardino County Probation Department.

Salvador Garcia, 25, was on supervised county probation for assault with a firearm and state parole for an armed robbery that occurred prior to his probation grant.

His brother and a roommate were also arrested in the home, with pending charges of vehicle and identity theft along with parole violations.

On Wednesday, during a routine home contact at Garcia’s residence, probation officers located a stolen Honda Accord in the garage. Upon searching the residence, officers discovered several stolen identification cards, driver’s licenses, birth certificates, and DMV registrations leading officers to suspect identity theft offenses. Officers also discovered narcotics paraphernalia.

Salvador Garcia’s brother, Rene Garcia, who was also on active probation, was at the home at the time of the contact, along with Jordan Bertheola, another resident of the home.

During a follow-up investigation, Salvador and Rene Garcia and Bertheola were all arrested, and Bertheola was suspected in other vehicle thefts.

The case is still under investigation, but charges may include vehicle theft and identity theft, along with probation violations, according to the Probation Department.
