A Saturn remains wedged into a white Chevrolet truck on Village Drive in Victorville on Friday afternoon. The driver of the Saturn was killed after he lost control of the car and crossed the centerline into the path of the oncoming pickup truck.

Car crushed in fatal Victorville accident

Authorities ID driver killed in crash:

Authorities released the name of the driver killed in a traffic collision on Village Drive near Powerline Road on Friday.

Adelanto resident Victor Antonio Barbosa-Castillo, 20, died at the scene shortly after noon on Friday, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department release.

VICTORVILLE • A 20-year-old driver was killed Friday afternoon when his sedan was crushed in a two-vehicle collision on Village Drive near Powerline Road.

A call came in at 12:03 p.m. that two vehicles collided, San Bernardino County sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindy Bachman said. Several patrol units and medical staff responded to the scene.

The driver of the Saturn sedan was driving north on Village Drive when he lost control and crossed into the southbound lane, according to a sheriff's news release. The car collided with a white Chevrolet truck.

The driver of the truck wasn’t injured but the Saturn driver died at the scene, according to the release. The Saturn driver was identified late Friday night as 20-year-old Victor Antonio Barbosa-Castillo of Adelanto. No passengers were in either vehicle.

Village Drive was closed in both directions around the crash scene until about 5:30 p.m.

The Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team is still investigating the crash and whether alcohol or drugs played a factor. Anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy Floyd Stone at (760) 241-2911.
