A.V. physician assistant nabbed for illegally dispensing drugs

APPLE VALLEY • A physician assistant from Apple Valley pleaded guilty in federal court Friday to felony charges of conspiring to distribute controlled substances without a legitimate medical purpose.

Christopher Henry Lister Sr., 50, is facing a 20-year maximum sentence along with supervised release for life as well as a fine of up to $1 million, according to a U.S. Attorney’s office news release.

As part of his plea agreement, Lister confessed to multiple incidences of writing and selling prescriptions for the drug oxycodone in 2009 to patients he didn’t examine. Lister sold these prescriptions for cash, and these patients then filled or resold the prescriptions to other users.

In one recorded transaction, Lister told a customer that he would be closing his practice and advised the customer to “stockpile” oxycodone and raise prices. Lister also asked the customer to bring him more business before the end of the week.

Lister’s sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 25.
