Park district seats still undecided

New numbers show Cowan in the lead; next count update coming Thursday

Nearly a week after Andy Cowan pulled an apparent upset over incumbent Jack Hamilton for a board seat on the Hesperia Recreation and Park District, the results of the election are still not final, according to the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters’ website.

On Monday, Cowan had taken the lead over incumbents Bob Chandler and Hamilton, with a vote count update from the county scheduled for Thursday.

Cowan, who is a member of the National Guard, was training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. during the election.

After being stationed in Afghan-istan for almost two years, Cowan said he wanted a chance to serve the community when he got back to the states in 2011.

Here’s how the candidates stacked up as of Monday:

• Bob Chandler, incumbent — 33.47 percent

• Andrew Cowan — 33.50 percent

• Jack Hamilton, incumbent — 33.03 percent
