Chamber of Commerce to install new Board of Directors

BARSTOW • The Barstow Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau will install its Board of Directors at a breakfast meeting today at the Hampton Inn.

The board’s three new members include, Caroll Randall as Vice President, Councilman Rich Harpole as a liaison to the City, and Sheena Delgado as a new board member.

Changes were due to term expirations according to spokesman Joseph Hisquierdo.

Chamber members were nominated and listed on a voter ballot, Hisquierdo said. Randall was appointed Vice President after receiving the highest number of votes and has previously served as the Chamber President twice before.

DeeDe Crigler, who was last year’s Board Vice President was appointed as president. She also serves in the community as the Executive Director of the United Way.

“I truly believe a better Barstow starts with me and that’s why I do what I do,” Crigler said. “I’m looking forward to an exciting year with our Chamber and Board. I think it’s going to be an incredible year.”

The remaining Board members are: Jeff Eason Sr., Andi Flores, Louise Miller, Robert Harroldsson and Gene Lowe.

The Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau is a voluntary organization of businesses and professionals with interests in promoting commerce and tourism in the region. They currently have over 360 members including BNSF Railway Company, Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, Anytime Fitness, A Joyful Sound Music Store and Barstow High School to name a few.

The Chamber also works to connect the community and the military population at the Marine Corps Logistics Base and Fort Irwin.

“The chamber’s strength is in its membership, accomplishing together what no one business could do alone,” its website reads.

The Chamber of Commerce general membership meeting is held the third Tuesday of each month at 8 a.m. at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Lenwood and is open to the public.
