Deputy arrested for sexual act with inmate
SAN BERNARDINO • A male deputy was arrested for having a sexual relationship with an inmate at Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's officials.
Sheriff's investigators began looking into the case on Tuesday after jail staff received information that a male deputy and a female inmate were having inappropriate contact, according to a sheriff’s news release.
Investigators interviewed Deputy Johnathan V. Miller, 27, and conducted a search warrant at his residence, officials said.
Miller was arrested Wednesday after an interview at the sheriff’s headquarters, spokeswoman Cindy Bachman said. He was booked into West Valley Detention Center for sexual contact with a consenting inmate, according to the release.
Miller posted $25,000 bail and was released from custody at 1:44 a.m. Thursday, officials said. Miller is on paid administrative leave, according to the release.
The Sheriffs Department is withholding the 25-year-old inmate’s name.
The investigation is ongoing and the Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone with information to contact the specialized investigations division at (909) 387-3589.
