Ramos, Lovingood to meet on Barstow courthouse closure

Closed session will address impacts to the public

SAN BERNARDINO • Third District Supervisor James Ramos and 1st District Supervisor Robert Lovingood will meet Thursday, along with other judicial officials, to address impacts the impending closures of the Barstow, Big Bear and Needles courthouses will have on the public, according to a press release.

Proposed discussions during the closed meeting include transportation and technological solutions and working with state legislative delegation to fix the inequitable funding of the courts at the state level.

“It is imperative for all citizens to have easy accessibility to our judicial system and that is a primary responsibility of government to provide,” Ramos said in a prepared statement.

Representatives from the District Attorney’s office, the Public Defender’s office, the San Bernardino County Bar Association and the High Desert Bar Association, as well as Executive Officer Stephen Nash and Presiding Judge Marsha G. Slough will attend, according to the press release.
